Lucid dreaming is an incredible phenomenon. It is the ability to know when you are dreaming. When you are aware that you are actually asleep and dreaming you can begin to take conscious control of your dreams. When this occurs you can literally do whatever you choose. There are no real limitations.

What would you love to do that you cannot do in the waking state? Whatever it is in theory at least you can achieve in the dream world. You can visit your favourite holiday destinations free of charge; you could take up a new hobby; fly like a bird; go skydiving; swim underwater without breathing apparatus; communicate with celebrities; meet famous people from the past; connect to deceased loved ones; and play sport with the stars...

Lucid Dreaming is completely safe. You can try out anything in the comfort of your bedroom with absolutely no risks. Does any of this sound interesting? Until recently Lucid Dreaming was pretty much a well kept secret; something that only esoteric traditions taught their disciples. Today with the advent of the smart phone, Lucid Dream apps and films like Inception, have introduced Lucid Dreaming to the general public and it is easier than ever to learn about this fascinating subject. So do you want to begin to have Lucid Dreams?

The first place to start is to begin to notice the differences between waking and sleeping states: between this waking reality and the dream scape. Stop what you are doing for a moment and ask yourself: "Am I dreaming now?" How do you know? Are you sure? How sure? You may have given yourself all kinds of reasons why you are certain you are not dreaming; yet actually, there are very few cast iron ways to be absolutely certain that you are not dreaming now. (Pinching yourself is not one of them!). In fact it is rare that an untrained person can give convincing reasons to why they are either awake or asleep at any given time. I have asked many folk over the years this simple question: "How do you know whether you are dreaming now?" And I don't think a single person has ever answered that question accurately. That is because it is not easy to know whether you are dreaming or not. To be more precise, it is very difficult when you are dreaming not to be fooled into thinking that you are wide awake. When we are awake we usually know this. When we are asleep we don't usually know this - we may swear on a proverbial stack of bibles that we are awake when in fact we are in the land of Nod! Therefore we always think we are awake even in the middle of bizarre dreams.

Why is this so? Good question. Before we answer that, let's look at a couple of ways you can successfully test reality. The best way is to ask yourself: "Am I now dreaming?" Then immediately jump in the air! If you float (even for a second) then you are dreaming guaranteed. Most other methods are not fool proof and I don't recommend them. One other method that I have used on many occasion to good effect (though it's not completely reliable - no method is) go to a window and attempt to push your hands through the glass. If you keep an open mind and do not doubt your ability to go through the glass, if you are dreaming your hands may go right through the glass just like you were a ghost.

When you do this now you probably will be amazed and you will be totally convinced that you are dreaming. This feeling is so incredible that it's worth practising Lucid Dreaming just to experience moments like this. Once you have had a taste of your first Lucid Dream there is no going back. You will love the experience so much that you will want to practise it more and more. Lucid Dreaming is something that you must give your full attention to. The more you put into Lucid Dreaming, the more you will benefit from it. Why not consider having a Lucid Dream tonight and discover for yourself how fantastic Lucid Dreaming can be.
